I am 25 and newly engaged to the man of my dreams. I have been blessed with 3 beautiful children from my first marriage, a 4 year old son & ID twin daughters that just turned 2! We live on the south end of wonderful Whidbey Island in Washington state.
In my spare time (mostly naps & after 9PM)I LOVE to sew & craft. I have tried to sell stuff here & there, I would really LOVE start teaching sewing lessons… but I need to get a second & 3rd machine first! Over the last 6 months I have realized that I am good at seeing an idea, or making it in my head & transitioning that too reality… most of the time with clothing & using no patterns! I am also interested in possibly designing patterns when the kids are a little older & in school. I also enjoy volunteering my extra time whenever I have any :).
With the struggling economy & the need to go green I have also been working on great inexpensive things that you can reconstruct/recycle into something else new all over again! Through out this I have talked to a lot of people… I am always getting asked how I did this, or where did you get that… then the ‘you only paid that much for it!’ This has giving me a flickering flame and I started blogging! I never thought people would read this blog… 1.5 years & 360,000+ hits later I was proven wrong. I enjoy inspiring people to give it a shot & love helping them with free patterns & tutorials. Because of this in the near future I hope to start 2 new weekly blogs… one will be about ways to save money & spend wisely… including stuff on how to get the best mileage from your vehicle & cut your grocery bill in half! The second blog is gonna be about garage selling! No matter what the reason it seems to be coming back into style which makes me happy because I never stopped loving it! I plan on sharing my loot, giving tips on how to get the most garage selling in, when to set limits & also how to through a awesome & profitable yard sale yourself!
Anyways there’s a little about me! If you enjoy my tutorials & have pictures to share or have any questions you can alwaysemail me.

Hi! I just stumbled on to your site. I am learning to sew & have sewn a few items. I really love sewing. I paint & make hairbows also. I have identical twin daughters too – they are 2 1/2. It is a fun world with twins, isn’t it? You have really cute items on here & just wanted to say hi!

I am mostly a crafter but I did just start my own website. I love hearing about other women who also enjoy sewing and crafting between naps and bed! We have the same schedule!! Thanks for helping out other SAHM and WAHM!!! Good Luck to you. –Jackie
Hi Kymy!!! Thanks for all your help with my new blog, you are the BESTEST!!!
By the way, I LOVE the new apron, it’s so cute!!!
I want to get into sewing, not sure if buying the $20 Shark Mini Sewing Machine would be a good start. Thanks. I love your site. I think I’ll be visiting a lot!
OMW I just saw that your sons name is Zander. I have a Xander and he turned 3 in August.
I love your blog, especially the tutes. I will be back 🙂
i just discovered your site and found it very interesting. i LOVE the little surfer girl dresses you made for your dd’s (very cute little girls!) my nieces would love something like that!
your son seems to be a very handsome young man hope to see more of your sewing projects 🙂
I looked at your photo of your dining room, I was wondering if you made that cover for your high chair, if so I looking to make one for my high chair, right now it has the hard cracking plastic on it and want to make my own… I am fairly good with sewing but would love tips and tricks… I love making things instead of going out buying them cause I can pick my own colors and patterns… I am currently making car seat covers, seat belt covers, and head supports for car seats…. thanks for all the help and ideas….
Hi, I just stumbled upon your website, too. Great idea. I am so into being a homemade mommy, and I came across the leg warmers. I am going to make them and see how they turn out. I hope everything is ok with you, and sorry to hear about the “D”. I don’t like to say the whole word but, Im sure you don’t either. You’re a geat person and I thank you for putting this site up. It’s very helpful. All the other leg warmer ideas I’ve gotten were too difficult to understand. The idea on this page is alot better and self explanatory.
Hi, Kymy. There are some of us still looking for your pattern for NICU smocks. Any hope of you posting it soon?
I found your blog through cafemom and I am so grateful!!! You have inspired and taught me so much through all your tutorials (either the ones you made or the ones you have links to). I have 3 children and a huge bag of Maternity clothes that have no where to go. I saw your 3-in-1 dress/shirt/skirt tutorial and have made a few of them out of maternity shirts for my daughters. You made it so easy to follow and I can finish one in less than a day! (I am a SAHM of a 4 year old, 2 year old and a 7 months old, so not a lot of time available!) I love the idea of taking clothes that my husband and I have and making clothes for our children. It helps us a lot. So, I just wanted to say thank you for your blog, your ideas and inspirations! Thanks!
Good Morn’ Crafty Momma:)
You amaze me with your stamina and heart to share it with others:) Your passion is definately contagious and since I found your Blog link on facebook:O I have added it to my start page and am always coming here to get patterns etc. I have made pillowcase dresses( actually made “pillowcases” from fabric then from there… and made soap too!!

Hi I just found your blog and I’m loving it! Its funny I’m 24 too with a gorgeous 20 month old son and my divorce comes through in October. We also met a wonderful, supportive, really cute 😉 man who adores us and is now a permanent fixture as partner and daddy. Anyway my boy is down for a nap so I’m off to try some of your tutes 🙂
BTW your email link doesn’t work?!
Your kids are gorgeous 🙂
Your blog was saved in my favorites folder i am so glad you are back blogging, i think you have a great thing going on here.
Being a novice sewer i find that you are an inspiration and i would have loved to have you as a teacher, shame i live on the other side of the world.
Will defintely be back for more
Speechless. I’m totally speechless. Can’t wait to look through your patterns and tutorials…
Your baby girls are soo precious!!
First off, I just want to say how adorable your kids are! I have nieces and nephews that I just love so much, so I’m sure you are the same with your kids. I was hoping to email you, but your email link does not work. Can you fix the link or shoot me an email? I have some crafting questions for you that I’d like to discuss.
I have fixed it a few times & it works for some people as I get emails often & not for others! I will try to get B to fix it, he is good at that kind of stuff! I will send you an email right now.
I love all items you made, it is so cute and your babies so cute too!
I was looking to purchase some baby legs for my baby girl (to be born in October) but they are expensive and they grow so fast. I stumbled upon your site. I have never sewn in my life. Edit that. In eighth grade I made a pillow :). I can’t even tell you, how thoroughly excited I am to try out your baby leggings tutorial. Thank you so much for such a fun site.
I come to you site often since I found it two months ago. I love sewing but unlike you my 3.5 yr old son and 19 month old identical twin girls keep me too busy (and I am not going through a divorce!) You are amazing! I love reading what you have been up to. Keep blogging you inspire me! 🙂
Hello, I have referred to your site many times and I love it. I adore Boden but have three girls to dress. I was wondering if you would be willing to share your pattern for the Boden inspired dress in the polka dots? Thank you so much for the inspiration.
Just discovered my love for sewing! I am really excited to have found your very beginner-friendly blog. Thank you so much for taking the time to share… I truly appreciate how much additional time you give to blogging about your projects.
Thank you so much for the leg warmers tutorial!! God bless you and your family!
Hi I just came to your blog from crafters and saw you are also on sparkpeople the two sites I love most (so far) find me on sparkpeople my name is christina_209!!!! Hi there. I can’t seem to find your email, but wanted to thank you for your little girl apron pattern. I’ve used it twice! You can find them on my blog here:
I LOVE your modification!!!!!!!!!! I will have to add those suggestions to the tutorial 🙂
hello- i just ran across your site. i love it!
but ive hunted many of places for info/instructions on.
bottle cap jewlery(teh beer cap 1’s)
as well as scramble jewlery
or the glass slide jewlery thats so hot right now
sizing of the pictures has stumped me…
io might have just over looked these on the site.
There is a tutorial for marble magnets which is kinda like the stuff you are talking about. It is on the ‘household’ tutorial list on the tutorial page.
Hi, I found your site while looking for baby patterns and have been coming back to it for a few days now looking for new things to make. I just read your bio and on Whidbey Island also. Small world. Thanks for all the patterns and im bookmarking your page so I can follow along.
Hey, I just came across your site when I googled “handmade clothing tags.” I’ve been perusing. What fun!
I’ve spent lots of time on Whidbey Island because my Dad and his wife lived there. My step sisters still do. I’m not going to use their last names, but if you know Cheryl and her husband Brad (and sons Christian an Chandler) or Deidre and her husband Rob (and their kids Lauran, Tim, and Matt) tell them I said hi!
I am about to embark on opening an etsy shop for the piles of homesewn goodies I can’t stop making. Your site is great!
I just found your site searching for crib sheet measurments…nice find. My great great nephew was born in September of 2009. Unfortunately, his parents just now received the “special order” crib set. Sadly the set did not include a crib sheet….I know!
Anyway, I have managed to find the exact print in bulk fabric so, I offered to make a crib sheet, pillow case, and curtains. Are all crib mattresses the same depth?
Generally with in 1″ of the same. You can always stretch the elastic out longer when sewing it on so that it pulls tighter that way it can fit better if it is by chance a tad thinner. But these should fit thicker ones with out a problem!
Thanks Kymy……BTW I am originally from the Seattle area..grew up in Lake Stevens. Now I live I Denver. Good luck with your yard project.
I’m looking for slip covers to cover my pack n play… and i have no idea of where to start a pattern for this. Would you be able to help me out? If so i would greatly appreciate it!
I just found your blog, I like it! a lot I wanted to ask about a project I have found here – the nightie made of t shirt. Is there any chance that you would make a tutorial? Or if not (I know it is a lot of work when you have kids8), could you please give me some ideas how to make it? I am still a beginner, so I am not sure how to make my own, and I love it! Thanks a Lot!
I just stumbled upon your blog while looking for leg warmers. I too have identical twin girls (3 months) and a 3 year old son. I am not used to being a stay home mom and I have been looking for things to fill my time (besides the children). I will definately be trying out some of your ideas.
Hi there! I wanted to drop you a line and just compliment your site. Nice layout, good info, good resources! If you are ever looking for free crochet patterns to share with your visitors, I would be honored if you shared patterns from my site – http://www.antiquecrochetpatterns.com
Have a great day!
i stumbled upon your site while searching for cheap baby leg warmers, and i just fell in love with it! i’m a mother of two who has felt the burn of expensive baby clothes from my first child. thank you for the ideas!
I LOVE your site!

Your children are so beautiful !
the 354+ Edible Gift Mixes was striking gold for me.

i was having navigation issues finding things here
until my sons helped me.
Thank You for your site
Just found your site – My goal this year is learn as much as I can about sewing – just want to get better at it! Joined your flickr group and am up for the January challenge!
I blog too and will link to you when I post my projects there too.
We’re expecting our second baby in June, a boy. Our first was a girl and we were careful to buy most big items in gender neutral, but we were given a travel lite pack and play that worked awesome as a bassinet in our room. Problem is it’s as pink as pink can be! Would you have any ideas on making a sort of slip cover for it out of some boyish fabric? I doesn’t have to be anything fancy and we only ever used it the first time with the basinett insert. Thanks for your time!
side note: I can’t sew a stitch 🙂
Jill besides making a sheet I really don’t have any suggestions! You could try slip covering it like you would a couch & then put the mattress in AFTER with a sheet but it will be no easy task & you have to be VERY careful because the fabric on the sides is breathable for a reason.
Hi Kymy –
I stumbled upon your site when I did a search for making a toddler bed sheet. Your site is super cool and looks like you put a lot of effort into it! I cannot wait to use your easy-to-read tutorial for my own sheet and get back into sewing! I have it all set up in the basement, but my almost 3 yr old, 1.5 yr old and baby due in July keep me pretty busy and by the time I have TIME, I am ready to sleep….zzzzzzz… oops. Keep up the good work!
I just stumbled across your blog and it is fantastic. I have been looking for patterns for the little three year old that runs around our house…and you have the best collection of patterns. Then I went to the about you section and realized you dont live to far from me. I am in Kent WA. So I must ask…what is your favorite fabric store?
My favorite fabric store is Pacific Fabric’s in Everett. They aren’t the cheapest, but they have a great selection of high quality fabrics including designer fabrics & knits!
Hi! Have you ever made a fitted crib sheet (or two) from a full-size fitted sheet? I just thought that since the length of the crib matches the width that I wouldn’t have to start from scratch. Anyway, is it possible? And if so, do you have instructions? Thanks!
I have made 2 out of a full size sheet before, but you still end up having to do it from scratch, the pockets are simply to deep because a crib mattress is much thinner. I find full size flat sheets work the best because you have a little extra scrap making them more forgiving and you don’t have to cut off the elastic from the fitted. I just treat the flat sheet like fabric & cut out the size I need for the tutorial.
Hi! I found out about you from Epinions.com. I was wondering how did you e-mail the magazine? What was the e-mail? I love Burda Style. com is it like that in the magazine? Thanks
The Burda Style website does sell some of the individual patterns to print off at home, but they are much more expensive that way. There are only a few ways to order it in the US, I believe mine was from GLP News? Here is a link… http://www.glpnews.com/EN/Crafts/Burda1.html Unfortunately it has gone up quite a bit since I last subscribed, but it’s still a great deal for the shear number of patterns you get. It works out to $7.50 per issues & generally if you don’t like an issue you can resell it on Etsy for that much.
Hi there! I LOVED your tutorial for the girls’ apron and was wondering if you would let me use your pattern to sell a couple on my etsy site. I make all sorts of children’s clothing and have a section for accessories–these would be perfect there. I can always put a link to your blog or site or whatever you’d like.
Thanks so very much! My daughter just loved hers that I made for her.
That is perfectly fine! The only tutorial I have really asked people not sell items from is my NICU smocks. All I ask is if you do give my blog credit for the pattern. You don’t have to link if you don’t want to but if you (though that is always nice :)) but if you could put someplace:
This was created using ‘A Personalized Little Girls Apron’ from Everything Your Mama Made & More!
Thank you for asking though!
I googled “baby legs” and pulled up your site. I used to live in Washington State and have identical twins daughters that are 5 months old and two boys 6 & 3. I’m excited to check out some of your stuff:)
Hi… I love all your site.. I been threw some sewing machines but i have gotten to the point where I really want to invest in a good one (that will be with me for 2-3 years at least), my last purchase was a $50 machine (Singer Quick Fix ) but have seen too many bad reviews on it and I am wondering if I should return it or not. I am trying it out for at least two weeks to see if any problems occur but would like your opinion. HELP !!!
The first post of the year just for you! 😉 http://everythingyourmamamade.com/2012/01/01/questions-from-a-blog-reader-sewing-machine-advice-needed/
I love the nicu smock pattern, my daughter was in the nicu for 70 days when she was born, I would love to make some and donate them to the hospital!!
